mundane occurrences of everyday life. These impart the nuances that distinguish the event upon memory. It is with adjectives that passion is recalled. An editor once commented that the melodrama with which I colored my storyline may “sell” in Latin America, but not in the U.S. of A. In Cry WaterColors, I tempered some of the spice but kept most of the vigor that adjectives convey on what we reminisce. After all, an artist must use the tools granted him, and these are drawn from his culture as much as circumstance. He listened to her conversation, envious at the passion she inflicted on the mundane. It was the love apparent in her admonitions that offered solace. He wished to tell her all he felt, and why he had come to the lake, but could only muster single-word responses that left him feeling empty.
